Tools for you
Is your church struggling with the form of music and
worship? These presentations enable you to present
answers and Biblical principles for improving worship.
These materials are freely offered for the glory of God
and the upbuilding of the Church.
The Presentations
Employing the medium which executives use today, these
presentations function like a professional slide show or
sophisticated overhead projector presentation. Each
presentation has over 50 slides (30-45 minutes long).
Each slide contains a screen full of text; some have
pictures and diagrams.
Using the Presentations
The materials have proven effective in worship
seminars, and college and seminary classes. Use them also
for personal development, sermons, church staff meetings,
music committee meetings, Sunday School, church
conferences, and music conferences.
Viewing the Presentations
To view the presentations you need Microsoft's
"PowerPoint Viewer", no charge software
obtainable online (help
finding PowerPoint Viewer), or any other software
that can read a PowerPoint file. Additionally, the full
featured "PowerPoint" program comes bundled
within the "Microsoft Office", or can be
purchased individually. The slides can be viewed at home
on your computer monitor, projected on an auditorium
screen (via a data projector), printed onto
transparencies for overhead projection, or printed for a
film slide show. That is, the viewing medium can be
flexible to fit your situation.
Source of the Presentations
The presentations are based on The New Worship: Straight Talk on Music and the
Church (Baker Books, 1996) by Dr. Barry Liesch. There's a slide
show for each chapter. It's not necessary for your audience to have
the book. If you are the presenter, you may want to obtain a copy so
that you can expand on the presentations confidently.
May I modify the presentations?
Absolutely! You may rewrite, add, or delete any
slide(s) from the presentation with ease. Teachers and
professors are encouraged to customize their
presentations. We understand that each church and
denomination will have it's own emphasis on worship
issues. We're trying to provide a foundation upon which
you can build. Add your own material, illustrations, and
theological perspective.
How can I modify the presentations?
Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is a no charge program
that doesn't allow editing. To create your own
modifications, purchase Microsoft's PowerPoint program
from any dealer. PowerPoint also comes bundled within
Microsoft Office, which is widely available.
Are there any restrictions?
The presentations are copyrighted. You are welcome to
distribute these materials in their current form as long
as you do not charge for them. Individual teachers may
freely use their customized versions in their classes and
seminars. Anyone who wishes to publish or distribute
their own customized versions must receive permission
from the authors. Barry Liesch teaches in the music
department and David Russell heads media services at
Biola University.
How can I get the presentations?
You can download "The New Worship:Seminar
Computer Presentations" from this internet site.
They are available for Windows or Macintosh computers.
